Timeline of Events

  • 6.1.26: In response to the growing number of students, families, and educators seeking a path forward, community leaders announced efforts to establish Hope Christian School as a potential place to land for the 2026–27 school year. More information is available at HopeForWhatsNext.com

  • 5.29.26: A Special Meeting request, signed by 179 Association members, was formally submitted to the LCS Board of Trustees.

    “We believe this is a critical time for Lansing Christian School, a perspective we are hopeful you share. Our hope is to foster healthy relationships among the Association, the Board, and the Head of School through robust communication and the intentional building of trust. With that goal, we are submitting these signatures, in accordance with Article V.3 of our Constitution, to request that the Board President call a special meeting of the Association.
    The stated purpose of this meeting is to discuss the current state of the school and the plans the Board and Head of School have for LCS moving forward.”

  • 5.26.26 Request for board to call a special meeting initiated by Association members.

  • 5.21.26: Staff and Teachers not returning next year.

    In an effort to provide clarity for families regarding staff members who do not intend to return next year, some individuals have given WeAreLCS permission to publicly share their names. Additional names may be shared in the future if and when individuals choose to do so.

  • 5.18.26: {NEW} So far, 235 students have withdrawn enrollment from LCS for the 2026-27 school year.

    Staff resignations continue to roll in after 25-30 teachers did not sign their contracts for next year.

  • Friday, 5.15.26 was the deadline for teachers to submit contracts and parents to unenroll students for the 2026-27 school year without penalty.

  • 5.13.26: {New} Communication from Staff to Association

  • 5.13.26: The Association voted against the board’s proposed budget.

    • Board responds: “Once there is more clarity on enrollment levels, the administration will update the proposed budget and bring it to the Board for approval.”

  • 5.12.26 Dr. Zajicek denies association request to extend the withdraw deadline beyond the teacher contract submission deadline forcing parents to make enrollment decisions for the 2026-27 school year prior to knowing how many and which teachers will not be returning next year.

  • 5.11.26: The Association elects, Amanda Toy, Jason Crawford, and Dr. Courtney Hart to the Board of Trustees.

  • On 5.4.26, Peter Bunn began employment at LCS as Dean of Spiritual Formation. This position was created by Dr. Jeremy Zajicek and was never publicly posted for internal or external applicants.

    Dr. Zajicek stated that “the process of identifying an individual for this role began by engaging local pastors and inviting their prayer and partnership,” and that Mr. Bunn was selected “through a process of prayer and discernment.” (The pastors engaged have not been specified).

    • Peter Bunn was introduced to students during the last all-school chapel of the year on Friday, May 8.

  • 4.30.26 Positions officially posted for: HS/MS Principal, Elementary Principal, Director of Business & Finance, and Business Assistant.

  • 4.26.26: Important Letter shared by LCS Staff to Community

  • April 22, 2026: Response to claims stating, “Dr. Zajicek asked the organizers to revise [BBBB] to more explicitly emphasize our unity in Christ…” and that the “committee refused to submit a revised proposal.”

  • On April 15, Staff asked Dr. Zajicek to communicate to the association that they do align with the school’s policy on biblical sexuality and are committed to teach from that perspective.

Leadership has yet to communicate this to the association.

  • On April 14, Dr. Zajicek announced to staff he is hiring Peter Bunn as a Dean of Spiritual Formation for the 2026–27 school year, a newly created position that was not publicly posted or opened for application.

  • April 13: 86% of staff submit a vote of no-confidence to leadership and association. Subsequently, the HS/MS and Elementary Principals, lost email access. At 4pm April 13th Dr. Zajicek announces they were both placed on administrative leave.

  • On April 10th, 11 faculty members, including the entire finance team and all academic leaders (Director of learning and both the elementary and HS/MS principals), were told their contracts were not being renewed for the following school year. Financial responsibilities will be assigned to unspecified parties.

  • April 6th was the final deadline for board candidates to submit their applications.

  • March 2, 2026: Board rejects all alternative proposals from petitioners, refuses to call special meeting and unilaterally declares the matter closed. Decision comes one hour after disclosing total association membership for the first time, previously withheld.

  • January 12, 2026: Board meets with petition representatives (Josh Block, Jason Crawford, Dave Tebben).

    • Key admissions from board members:
      -No additional major changes planned
      -Do not want to lose teachers

    • Due to these acknowledgments, alternative pathways are proposed to the board.

  • October 30, 2025: Concerned parents formally initiate a petition, securing the required 25% of association member signatures to call a special meeting. Board refuses to call the special meeting, blocking a constitutional process designed to give the association a voice.

  • October 13, 2025 Board pauses the planning of Breaking Bread and Building Bridges and Hispanic Heritage Month event due to new policy amendment takes effect stating: “Similarly, any proposed events that celebrate specific people groups or secular ideologies require prior Board approval.” The events are later canceled and $25,000 grant returned.

  • October 2025, Jeremy announces Brenda Resch has been hired as the Administrator of Strategic Plans and Initiatives.‍ ‍A new position created by him and never publicly posted.
    10/13/25 the board unanimously pass an amended budget to fund the new part-time leadership position.

    In the 2024 board election, Brenda Resch was not re-elected to be on the Board.The Board typically oversees strategic planning. The Association did not vote for Brenda Resch to be on the current Board, yet the Head of School created a paid position for her to oversee strategic planning.

  • September 4, 2025: It has been stated that the current Board reflects the will of the parent community through election. However, following the passing of Carmon Crawford, the board used their authority to deny Jason Crawford’s application to finish his late wife’s term and selected a different candidate.

    • July 1, 2025 the new head of school Dr. Jeremy Zajicek begins.
